FAQ:

Q: How comfortable is a chair for massage?

A: Massage chairs are actually a more ergonomic design than a table, which means they are better and more relaxing for your body. My massage chair was chosen in part for its deep padding and easy adjustability for a perfect fit, so that your experience will be so comfortable you might even fall asleep!

Q: Will you be able to work on more than just the back/arms? Can you get to other parts of the body in a chair?

A: All areas of the body can be addressed with chair massage, including your legs and feet. Further, with simple re-adjusting, you can sit reversed in the chair and receive work on the anterior /chest areas.

Q: Aren't chair massages usually short?

A: A great benefit of chair massage is that it can be any length of time with equal ease. While a short table massage often leaves the client feeling like they just got started, a short chair massage can create feelings of relaxation and refreshment. But it doesn't have to be short! A chair massage can last any agreed-on length of time, from 15 minutes to an hour.

Q: What clothes should I wear for a chair massage? Do I have to take my shirt off?

A: Thanks to my training working on athletes, I'm particularly skilled at working through any types of clothes. But for your own benefit, I'd suggest loose comfortable clothing. It is entirely your own choice if you'd prefer to wear something that shows more skin. Chair massage techniques are designed to work with any level of modesty, so it is perfectly acceptable to leave your shirt on. Your comfort is what makes it a good massage!

Q: Do you use any oils? What if I have allergies or sensitivities?

A: I use a blend of organic sunflower oil and macadamia nut oil on the skin, unless requested not to. Both sunflower oil and "mac nut" oil are highly beneficial for the skin, and are especially helpful in counteracting the effects of sun exposure and aging. They are both lighter oils, so they absorb quickly to avoid leaving you with an 'oily' feeling afterward. Instead, your skin will feel soft, smooth, and pampered. Also, sunflorwer oil is odorless and mac nut oil has a very mild "nutty" smell, and they both wash easily from cloth; so you won't have to worry about any stains or smells on your clothing.

My usual oil is lightly scented with my own blend of organic essential oils of rose, lavender, and jasmine, to create a relaxing and uplifting experience. However, I always have an unscented option of pure sunflower oil (no mac nut oil) with me, which you are free to request as an alternative for any reason. If you prefer to have no oils used, that is also completely fine.

Q: Do you do house-calls? Can I get a massage with my friends?

A: Yes, and absolutely! Right now, I'm offering "Home Massage Days" where you can host a massage day for yourself and your friends.

You can choose to have three guests for half hour massages each, or two guests for 45 minutes each, or only one lucky friend for a full hour each!

Q: What are your rates?

A: I charge the traditional fee for chair massage: "a dollar a minute". This means a half hour massage will be $30, an hour will be $60, and so forth.

Q: What are some of the unique benefits of chair massage?

A: I've already mentioned a few, such as: how a great massage is possible with any length of time, how it can be more comfortable for those who are modest, and how it is more ergonomic for the body. Here are some other reasons why I advocate chair massage:

  • Chair massage is more portable: This is important for a house-call based service. It means I can get anywhere I need to easily and still offer a great massage with very little effort and without wasting time.
  • Massage chairs take up less room: Again, this is great for both you and me. It means you don't have to worry about clearing out a room before getting your massage. It takes far less space to set up and perform a massage with a chair than it would with a table.
  • Many people prefer massage chairs: Often laying on your chest or back on a table can be uncomfortable or even inadvisable. For instance, I have clients with Positional Vertigo who cannot be on a massage table without a severe attack, but who need massage as part of managing their condition. The massage chair is a perfect solution. Another example is pregnant women, who can receive the benefits of massage from a chair without the endangerment or discomfort that a table can pose. And many clients have told me they find receiving massage in my chair is more comfortable, and as or more effective than if I used a table. They even find it easier to breathe during the massage, and don't experience the "congested nose" feeling afterward that many people get after a table massage.

Q: I want a massage!

A: All my massages are by appointment only. Just fill out the form on the "Contact Me" page with any inquires, and I'll be in touch as soon as possible!

I look forward to hearing from you.
